ACSiS Building Blocks and Benefits:
Security - Optimization of patient privacy and data security is paramount. Security is provided on the operating system, database, application, and communication level:
- Access Control Mechanisms (authentication, centralized authorization rules, functional role definitions and user labeling)
- Logging and Monitoring
- Network Isolation (Firewalls)
- Encryption (as required including all data storage and data transfer)
- Optional Integration with Sun Java Identity Manager: a comprehensive solution for managing identity profiles and permissions and protecting sensitive data delivering complete user provisioning and meta-directory solution that enhances enterprise security
Web Standards: Using web standards and protocols allows the user to rely on proven and secure means of communication and interfacing. Web standards such as XML and protocols such as HTTP are a stable and more importantly proven way to achieve system compatibility in a heterogeneous and dynamic IT network infrastructure. Furthermore the integration with external stakeholders is greatly facilitated.
Mobile Technologies: Handheld computers can be used to collect data for the ACSiS system and are intended for use by remote and mobile personnel. This results in direct data entry by the data collector and eliminates any transcript tasks reducing costs and more importantly significantly improving data accuracy. Handheld computers can operate wirelessly where the service is available or in batch with periodical downloads to a host computer.
Flexible integration layers for utilizing existing legacy infrastructure (Finance, HR, and other ERP tools).
The innovative nature and the form factor of handheld technologies represent an unquestionable improvement to in-field data gathering.
